How we check prices

Where prices come from

We only use prices a provider publishes on its own website. We don't use prices from review sites, social media or phone calls, and we never estimate, average or guess a single provider's price.

Each listing quotes the provider's own wording and links to the page we took it from, so you can see exactly what the price covers.

How often we check

We re-check every listing against the provider's website. Each price shows the month we last checked it, for example "Price checked October 2026". Prices change, so always confirm the final cost with the provider before you book.

What "Price on request" means

We show "Price on request" when we couldn't confirm a price on the provider's own website. Usually that's because they don't publish one. Sometimes their website was down when we checked. It doesn't mean the provider is expensive; it means you'll need to ask them for a quote.

Providers that close

If a provider's website or listing shows it has closed, we remove it.

How town averages are worked out

Town pages show the number of providers we list and the average, lowest and highest headline price. We work these out automatically from the prices we've confirmed. "Price on request" listings are left out. Headline prices aren't always like-for-like: some are "from" prices and some cover different options, such as both ears. Treat the average as a guide, not a quote.

Which towns get a page

We publish a town page when at least five providers serve the area. It's only open to search engines when at least three of them are within 10 miles of the town centre, or name the town in their own coverage area. Towns that fall short are folded into the nearest larger town page, or kept out of search results.
