Ear wax removal prices: what private clinics charge

Draft This guide is still being reviewed.

What we found

We checked the websites of every provider we list on 30 October 2026. These ranges cover clinic, pharmacy and hearing-centre listings that state a price for one ear or both ears:

Home-visit-only services we list publish £60 to £70 for both ears. Clinics that also visit at home usually charge more for a home visit than in clinic.

Some prices are national. For example, Specsavers publishes £55 for one or both ears, £20 if no wax is found and £85 for a private home visit, at the stores that offer it. Boots Hearingcare's booking page shows £60 per appointment but doesn't say whether that's one ear or both.

Things that change the price

• One ear or both. Many providers charge less for one ear. Some charge the same for either.
• No wax found. Several providers charge a consultation fee (often £20 to £35) if there is no wax to remove.
• Home visits. These usually cost more, and some add a call-out fee.
• Children. Not every provider sees children, and some charge differently.
• Follow-up visits. Some include a second visit if wax can't be removed first time. Check before you book.

NHS ear wax removal

NHS ear wax removal is not available in many areas. Where it is offered, it depends on your local GP practice and health services. Ask your GP practice or a pharmacist what is available near you. This site lists private providers only.
